- Stainless steel keeps drinks cold or hot longer. Plastic and Tritan-style bottles are lighter and usually lower cost. Aluminium is light and takes bright colour.
- Capacity

- Lid and spout
- Sports spouts suit training. Screw caps suit desks and travel. Check what the club or team will actually use.
- Colour
- Bottle colour and print colour both matter. Dark bottles with light print are usually clearest.
